Shalmali Kholgade Facts
She began learning to sing under her mother Uma Kholgade at the age of 8 and began performing publicly at the age of 16.
Shalmali made her debut theatrical film appearance in a supporting role in the Konkani-Marathi film Tu Maza Jeev in 2009.
As a lead vocalist, she made her debut in the film Ishaqzaade in 2012, with the song Pareshaan which won her the Filmfare Award for “Best Female Playback Singer”.
Aside from Hindi, Shalmali has also sung in Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, and Tamil languages.
She paid tribute to Amy Winehouse at the Blue Frog, Mumbai in 2021.
Over the years, Shalmali has released several hit songs such as Daaru Desi, Aga Bai, Balam Pichkari, Raja Raja, Lat Lag Gayee, Chingam Chabake, and Kalle Kalle.
